CWF Clear Wood Finish

CWF® Oil Clear Wood Finish for Fences, Decks and Siding

Clear oil-based finish that enhances wood's natural beauty

CWF® is a penetrating oil finish that provides deep protection against moisture damage. When CWF is first applied, the wood will darken to a rich color, then begin to lighten depending on the intensity of sun exposure. CWF finish provides a mildew-resistant finish that won't crack, peel or flake.

Where To Use
• Exterior wood surfaces such as decks, siding, shakes, shingles, fences and exterior furniture.
• For exterior use only; do not use indoors.

Preparation
• New wood should receive one coat of New Wood Defender™, then weather for one year before applying CWF.
• Weathered wood should be free of debris, clean and dry.
• Remove old weathered finishes and sealers with Flood’s PowerLift® Deck Sealer Remover or StainStrip® Exterior Stain Stripper.
• Allow wood to dry two to three days before applying CWF.
• Cover all areas you don’t want to coat.

Application
• CWF may be applied with: Nylon, polyester or natural bristle brush, hand-or-power roller (3/4” synthetic nap cover), stain brush/pad, garden sprayer, airless spray (spray equipment: .011 - .015 fluid tip, 700 psi).
• Apply two wet-on-wet coats. As one coat is absorbed (usually within 15-30 minutes), apply another.
• Do not allow CWF finish to set up or dry between coats.
• Wipe up excess after 30 minutes to avoid shiners.
• If spraying, backbrush or backroll for uniform penetration and appearance.

Dry Time
• Allow drying time from 24 to 48 hours. For continued protection, apply CWF once every two years.

Clean Up
 • Use mineral spirits to clean brushes, rollers and spray equipment.
• Remove drips and spatters from all surfaces while CWF finish is wet. If allowed to dry, use paint remover.
• CWF finish left in partially filled containers should be transferred to smaller, sealed glass or metal containers to prevent gelling.
• Dispose of empty cans and saturated rags according to local regulations.
