Maximizes Life of Spa-N-Deck Finish Coat

FloodPro® Spa-N-Deck® Base Coat is a neutral-toned oil/acrylic bond coat for bare exterior wood surfaces. Base Coat is the first step with FloodPro Spa-N-Deck 100% Acrylic Wood Finish. Base Coat penetrates deeply into the wood's pores, delivering superior adhesion and moisture protection, and ensuring maximum life and peel-resistance of Spa-N-Deck 100% Acrylic Finish. After one or two hours, the finish coat can be applied.

Where To Use
• Ideal for use on exterior woods, including: pressure treated cedar, redwood and tropical hardwoods.

Preparation
• Spa-N-Deck Base Coat is uniquely designed to be applied to WET WOOD. This base coat must be applied to a wood surface that is saturated with water to achieve maximum penetration and performance. If prevailing conditions cause the wood surface to dry out during the application, the wood must be REWETTED. If there is a question as to whether the wood is wet enough, err on the wet side, particularly on all decks and horizontal surfaces.
• Surfaces must be free of all dirt, grease, grime and previous coatings.
• Both new and weathered wood must be completely treated with a solution of FloodPro Stripper/Cleaner, chlorine bleach and water. Do not use acid-based cleaners to prepare the surface.

Application
• Mix Base Coat thoroughly and periodically during application.
• Liberally begin to apply Base Coat with the wood wet. KEEP THE WOOD WET (especially on all decking or horizontal surfaces) during the Base Coat application.
• Work enough area to maintain a “wet edge” to avoid lapping.
• Allow Base Coat to dry thoroughly, approximately 1-2 hours. Apply only one coat of Base Coat.
• Note: Low humidity, wind and direct sun will dry the surface of saturated wood very quickly. Keep a water source handy (like a garden hose) to constantly rewet the wood during the Base Coat application.

Dry Time
• Allow Base Coat to dry thoroughly, approximately 1-2 hours. Apply only one coat of Base Coat.

Clean Up
• Clean up with warm, soapy water.
