Penetrating oil and acrylic stain in one
With Semi-Transparent Deck & Siding Stain it's easy to make your deck stand out from the crowd. Sheer color enhances the natural beauty of decks and siding, allowing grain and texture of the wood to show through. Its exclusive formula combines the rich penetration of an oil with the durability of an acrylic resin. Flood's Semi-Transparent Deck & Siding Stain is fortified with E-B Emulsa Bond which bonds the acrylic topcoat with our deep-penetrating oil for superior adhesion.
Available In• 8 feature colors (White Parchment, Blue Shale, Sand Dune, Auburn Brown, Redwood, Driftwood Gray, Coffee Bean and Natural Cedar) and 27 custom colors.
Where To Use• Use on new or unfinished, weathered exterior wood.• Previously stained exterior surfaces.• Siding (solid wood, plywood, including T1-11).• Decks, docks and other horizontal surfaces.• Fences and other vertical surfaces.• Trim boards, outdoor wood furniture.
Preparation• Proper surface protection is essential to warranty application, optimum penetration and overall product performance.• Surfaces to be stained must be thoroughly clean, dry and free of dirt, mildew and other contamination.• Remove mildew with a solution of one part household bleach to four parts water. • Completely remove any stain, paint, varnish or sealer to expose bare wood.Note: Test for penetration and absorbency by sprinkling water lightly on wood. If water is absorbed rapidly, surface is free of contamination and ready to stain. If water is repelled, thorough preparation for new wood surfaces must be performed or repeated.
New Wood SurfacesThe ideal time to stain new wood is one to three months after installation. Some new wood surfaces, such as smooth cedar, can have a hard, shiny surface called mill glaze that prevents maximum penetration of a stain. All new wood, especially decks, should be prepared with Flood's PowerLift®, StainStrip® or FloodPro® Stripper/Cleaner (diluted according to directions). These products reduce mill glaze and remove natural wood chemicals and other factory-applied sealers to open wood and allow maximum penetration. Note: Mill glaze on new cedar decks: Apply New Wood Defender™ as soon as the deck is built. After one year, clean with PowerLift and apply Flood Semi-Transparent Stain.
Weathered Wood SurfacesUncoated wood surfaces that have weathered longer than 6 months require thorough cleaning before staining. Use Flood's PowerLift with a pressure washer or stiff bristle brush to remove loose wood fibers, dirt and other surface contaminants. Note: Cedar and redwood may darken with PowerLift. If this occurs, rebrighten with Flood's Dekswood® before proceeding.
Previously Coated or Stained Wood SurfacesFlood Semi-Transparent Stain can only be applied to bare wood surfaces or weathered semi-transparent surfaces that are sufficiently porous. Previous paint, solid-hide stain or varnish must be removed completely and thoroughly with Flood StainStrip or PowerLift per product directions before proceeding.
Application• Apply between 50°F and 80°F.• Do not apply if cold, wet weather is expected within 48 hours.• Mix thoroughly before and periodically during application.• For color uniformity, box or mix in one container all stain to be used on an entire section.• Apply evenly with a brush, roller or sprayer. • For best results, brush apply or backbrush immediately with a high-quality brush after rolling or spraying. • To minimize lapping, always maintain a wet edge.• Always work the entire length of a deck board or horizontal siding to a logical break, such as a window or door frame. • Vertical siding should be coated from top to bottom. • Never stop staining in the middle of a board or wall.• Two coats are recommended for maximum durability and overall performance.• For exterior use only. Do not use indoors.
Dry Time• Apply second coat in 2-4 hours.• Deck can be used within 48 hours.
Clean Up• Clean up with warm, soapy water.• If Flood Semi-Transparent Stain is allowed to dry on tools, remove with paint remover.• Danger: Rags, steel wool or waste soaked with this product may spontaneously catch fire if improperly discarded. Immediately after use, place rags, steel wool and waste in a tightly sealed, water-filled container.LIMITED WARRANTY - Semi-Transparent Deck & Siding StainProduct Safety Information
