1. YOU WILL NEED -
- Flood® Dekswood®*
- Broom or leaf-blower
- Plastic drop cloths
- Rags
- Large bucket (5 gallon capacity or equivalent)
- 5 gallon plastic roller grid
- Plastic garden sprayer (not larger than 2 gallon capacity) or brush or roller
- Long-handled, short, stiff bristle brush
- Garden hose with spray nozzle, or pressure washer** (can be rented at most home improvement or hardware stores)
- Chemical resistant gloves
- Safety goggles
PLEASE NOTE: Although this exterior wood cleaning project guide uses an exterior wood deck as its example, the same process may be used to clean other exterior wood surfaces, such as wood siding, wood fences and outdoor wood furniture.

* Dekswood is a cleaner and brightener for exterior wood surfaces, such as wood decks, fences or outdoor furniture, that have become gray or dirty, including cedar, redwood, teak or pressure-treated wood.
How to determine whether you need to use Flood Dekswood:
Do you have...
- Unfinished wood? Use Dekswood to clean, brighten and restore your gray or weather-beaten exterior wood deck, wood siding or wood furniture to its natural color
- A clear, natural or semi-transparent wood finish? Choose Dekswood for the strong cleaning and removal of your wood's surface dirt (please note, however that Dekswood may not be the product to use if there are special cleaning needs or graying under your pre-coated surface)
- A solid color finish? Dekswood is an excellent choice for removing dirt, restoring a bright, vibrant look, and it won't harm the surface finish of your wood deck, siding or outdoor furniture
Here's a simple test to help you check whether your wood deck or exterior wood has an existing clear or natural finish on it: Sprinkle a drop or so of water onto your deck surface. If it absorbs into the wood in just a few second's time it probably is not coated. If it beads for longer than that before drying, your deck is likely to have an existing finish applied.
