Application Instructions
Ideal for newer wood, Flood CWF Oil adds minimal color and highlights the natural wood grain. It also penetrates and protects against moisture and sun damage, and can be quickly applied with a pump sprayer. See the product label for more information and details regarding application.

    Application Options

    • - High-quality, natural bristle stain brush
    • - Lambswool or mohair roller with 3/8" – 3/4" nap
    • - Pump sprayer
    • - Airless sprayer (.011 - .015 fluid tip, 700 – 800 psi or less)

    Application Tips

    • - To avoid lap marks, always work the entire length of a board while maintaining a wet edge. Never stop application in the middle of the board.
    • - Vertical surfaces should be coated from top to bottom.

    Cleanup

    • - Clean tools with mineral spirits.

    Important Notes

    • - Wear safety glasses.
    • - Do not apply CWF Oil in direct sunlight or on hot surfaces.
    • - CWF Oil is for exterior use only; do not use it indoors.

    Weather Requirements

    • - Apply CWF Oil in temperatures between 50° and 90° F.
    • - Do not apply CWF Oil if cold and/or wet weather is expected within 24 hours.
 

Step-by-step instructions:

  1. 1. Cover everything you do not wish to coat, including plants.
  2. 2. Make sure the wood surface has been properly prepared and is completely dry.
  3. 3. For color uniformity, intermix all containers being used, and do not thin the product.
  4. 4. Stir the finish before and peridocially during application.
  5. 5. Test the color in a small area.
  6. 6. Apply liberally with a brush, roller or sprayer.
  7. 7. After spray application, backbrush or backroll to improve penetration and uniformity of coverage. Remember, Flood CWF Oil is not a surface coating. It protects by penetrating the wood surface.
  8. 8. Apply a second coat before the first coat dries (usually within 30 minutes). Do not apply a second coat if the first coat has dried.
  9. 9. Allow the second coat to penetrate for 10 to 15 minutes, then wipe up any finish that has not penetrated to even out the appearance and to avoid shiny spots.
  10. 10. Allow the surface to dry 24 to 48 hours.
